Intro to Restorative Justice Facilitation

Provides essential tools to help teachers manage classroom behaviors.

Helps teachers and students build and strengthen relationships which can prevent discipline problems before they start or before they escalate.

•My students always seem happier after being able to communicate with adults and peers in these circles.

•I did a Circle with the students to listen to their hopes and fears about the upcoming holiday week at home. It seemed that with two of my classes this resulted in the students relaxing a bit for the lesson.

When a student is sent to the office for behaviors such as interpersonal conflicts, class disruption, disrespect of teachers, bullying, verbal and physical conflicts, theft, damage to property, internet harassment and attendance issues, Restorative Justice Conferencing gives students a chance to be heard and repair the harm so they can make better choices in the future! If the case warrants it, offending students can avoid suspension.

Boomerang for High School Teens

Boomerang is a powerful one-day workshop intensive for high school students who want to take their lives to a new level as leaders and positive role models. It is also beneficial to those youth who are at high risk of multiple suspensions as it shifts them away from risky behaviors to healthier, more fulfilling lifestyles. Through a series of experiential activities, students create a compelling big dream for their lives based on their natural gifts and talents and participate in engaging activities related to career choices, education, relationships, communication skills, conflict resolution, and sustainable independence. Many of our Boomerang graduates report leaving gangs, stopping the use of alcohol and drugs, and enthusiastically becoming fully engaged in their education—seeing it now as a stepping-stone to getting what they want out of life.
